At the invitation of the president of the Svea Court of Appeal, Fredrik Wersäll, Peter Danowsky spoke at “Judges Day”, an event arranged by the court on September 27, 2017. The title of Peter’s lecture was “Alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and the appeal of the courts in commercial litigation”. Peter highlighted significant differences between the handling of arbitration proceedings and the proceedings in general courts, and gave some suggestions on how the courts could be made more attractive to commercial disputes. Such a proposal is that the parties are given influence over who will handle the dispute, and ensure the same person(s) will be in charge of the case from the start until the ruling has been delivered.
